Margarita de Gregorio is elected representative of Spain in the Technical Advisory Group of Mission Innovation

Margarita de Gregorio, General Secretary of BIOPLAT, has been elected as the Spanish representative of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of Mission Innovation.

Mission Innovation is a global initiative, in which 23 countries from around the world participate (Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States, United Arab Emirates, and the European Commission). It aims to catalyze action and investment in research, development and demonstration to make clean energy affordable, attractive and accessible to all.

It seeks to accelerate the achievement of the Paris Agreement targets and move towards a net zero emission energy system. It is supported by the European Investment Bank, the World Bank, the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, the World Economic Forum, and the International Energy Agency and the International Renewable Energy Agency, among others.

To provide oversight and guidance to Mission Innovation’s activities, a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) assists governments in maximizing their impact. This group is made up of prestigious scientists and academics, senior government technical officials, advisors and technical experts from partner organizations.

For Margarita de Gregorio “being part of the Technical Advisory Group of Mission Innovation representing Spain is an honor that I assume with great responsibility” and she considers that “catalyzing clean energy solutions for all is, without a doubt, one of the great challenges of today’s society”. Regarding the role of Mission Innovation, he declares that “the capacity for positive impact of this World Forum is enormous and I will do my best to make it happen”.

In September 2022, the Ministry of Science and Innovation began to lead the Spanish participation in this initiative, in which it works in coordination with other Ministries and institutions of the Spanish Government, such as the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. With this adhesion, Spain has the opportunity to share knowledge with other members and thus accelerate the climate and energy transition in a more effective way, which will be done thanks to the synergies offered by international cooperation.
